Shavuot/Pentecost 03-10-5768 (05-27-2007)
Blessed Shavuot!
Today is the anniversary of Yahweh's Law
(instruction) given at Mount Sinai. It is also the anniversary of the
tongues of fire, symbolic of the Set-Apart Spirit, descending upon the called out ones (disciples). "Wisdom (Yahweh's set-apart
Spirit of Wisdom) crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets:
'Turn you at My reproof: behold, I WILL POUR OUT MY SPIRIT UNTO YOU,
I WILL MAKE KNOWN MY WORDS UNTO YOU.' " (Proverbs
1:20, 23)
Some relevant Scriptures to the occasion are:
Deuteronomy 16:9-12, Numbers 28:26-31, Leviticus 23:15-21, Acts 20:16, Joel
2:28-29, and Acts 2. May we all observe this Yahweh-ordained Feast, being
open to His Word and His Power.
Something to keep in mind this Shavuot and all
appointed Festivals:
Deuteronomy 16:11 instructs that we keep the
Festival "in the place which Yahweh thy Elohim hath chosen to place His Name
there." Many organizations will try to convince us either
that:
1) That chosen "place" is THEIR GROUP AND LOCATION, thus seeking to control people and gain a following, or2) That the chosen "place" is Jerusalem, trying to convince people that it is not possible for us all to go to Jerusalem, and thus not possible to keep the Feast(s) anymore.
Yahweh, however, instituted the Feasts as divine
appointments with all of His people (Leviticus 23:21). He places His
Name
1) On the Festivals themselves, and observing them AS HE TELLS US TO.2) On THE APPOINTED DATES for the Festivals, the proper times being the appointed PLACES (or seasons) for keeping the Feasts.3) On the people who are TRULY HONORING AND SERVING HIM. And Yahweh spake unto Moshe (Moses), saying, "Speak unto Aaron and unto his sons, saying, 'On this wise ye shall bless the children of Israel, saying unto them, Yahweh bless thee and keep thee: Yahweh make His face shine upon thee, and be merciful unto thee: Yahweh lift up His countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.' And they shall PUT MY NAME UPON THE CHILDREN OF ISRAEL, and I will bless them." (Numbers 6:22-27) And ye shall know that I am IN THE MIDST OF ISRAEL, and that I am Yahweh your Elohim, and none else, and My people shall never be ashamed. (Joel 2:27)
Thus, when Yahweh commands us to keep the
Feasts in the place where He has put His Name, He is instructing us to
keep them AT THE PROPER TIME, IN THE PROPER WAY, WITH HIS PEOPLE,
and to be sure that we are or are seeking to be His
people OURSELVES as well.
